Redd Linen Night takes another twist.
This year’s event features the art of the tattoo!
To celebrate the history and beauty of tattoos and body adornment, especially upon melanated skin and throughout the African diaspora, where it has its origins, Ashe’ Cultural Arts Center's Redd Linen Night presents ADORNED, curated by Erika Whitt.
This event will feature some of the city’s most talented African-American tattoo artists. Bryan Brown, Mecca, Ceaux Young, and Roman Joseph are confirmed to date. Plus, there will be a special dedication to the incomparable Jacci Gresham, who made history as the first ever black woman tattoo artist in the country and owner of the oldest tattoo parlor in Louisiana.
As attendees move through the space, they will have the opportunity to observe and engage in a plethora of sensorial experiences curated around the art of body adornment on black and brown skin such as tattooed models, art and historical exhibits, a panel discussion, live entertainment, drinks and food, as well as live tattooing and henna application. ADORNED is sure to be a memorable night etched into the minds and hearts (and skin!) of all who get to experience it. The event is open to the public, ages 18+.
Tickets are only $20: Click here to purchase.
