Thanks to the Lake Willow Neighborhood Association and the City of New Orleans Tricentennial Committee, we are proud to welcome Big Chief Walter Landryof the Black Mohawks Mardi Gras Indians. Kids from the Kuumba Institute will be up-close-and-personal with the Big Chief, observing his spectacular hand-made costume. He’ll be on hand to talk about the history of the Mardi Gras Indians and their connection to American Indians. When Mardi Gras Indians are in the mix, expect tambourine licks and songs.
