Institute of Cultural Education

The Institute of Cultural Education is designed to improve the cultural competence of teachers and the instruction they offer to children in pre-school and early-elementary settings. The curriculum is designed to explore the influence that culture can have in the development of children. The Institute training demonstrates techniques and resources that can improve the capacity of participating educators to feature cultural content in their teaching plans and curriculum.

The institute also supports teachers in creating strategies and activities which incorporate culture in their curriculum. The Institute teaches philosophy, vocabulary and developmental issues which support the increased inclusion of cultural content in early childhood education. The training includes a presentation of theory, practice, various cultural presentations, participation learning, role play and resource material review. At the end of the workshop, the participants receive a tool box of resource materials to take home and begin to infuse the other Vitamin C “Culture” into their practice of teaching young children.
