Annual Signature Events
We host over 1,000 events and meet thousands of visitors each year. However, there are five events that we produce annually, in collaboration with community members and organizations, that encapsulate the essence of Ashé Cultural Arts Center. If you are interested in art, dance, music, cultural heritage, education and spoken word, these events are for you. All of the events are free admission and all inclusive.
Let loose and let your heart sing, whether singing is your thing or not. It feels so good! Join us as we Lift our Voices in liberation songs led by some of the best vocal talent in New Orleans. There's a place just for you in the harmony.
Inspired by the legacy of Douglas Redd, iconic visual artist and cofounder of Ashé Cultural Arts Center, local cultural workers and artists in all disciplines are invited to gather for the Summit.
The MAAFA Commemoration offers an opportunity for the whole community to pause and reflect on this great transgression against humanity and to personally, as a community, agree to distance ourselves institutionally in word and deed from that transgression, its legacy and the evolved practice of racism in our civic, social, spiritual and personal lives.
Festival goers will enjoy the rhythms of a wide range of music, cooking demonstrations, dance performances, arts and crafts vendors, local food trucks and popular food vendors, and various non-profits and health organizations providing information and health screenings.
Music and merriment are the order of the day as Ashé Cultural Arts Center lights up the boulevard with musicians, merchants, authors, spoken word artists, and the community, creating an astonishing holiday family festival and marketplace in Central City New Orleans.
